0115 Course Description:

English II encourages students to increase their vocabulary through writing as well as from the study of major British writers.  Students read and study poetry, drama, and novel selections from the various major periods of British literature. They learn to analyze literature using the literary terms mastered in English I and build their knowledge of these concepts in formal written literary analyses. The students also gain experience in other modes of rhetoric including the persuasive essay, comparison/contrast, and process analysis; the students learn research skills and the MLA documentation format through work on a research paper.  Through the use of the text as well as oral and written application, English II students further sharpen their grammatical skills.  In addition, students will continue to develop and refine their technological skills through the use of the computer for the English classroom.
