Junior Statesmen of America holds many events and provides learning opportunities year round. These events include:
Fall State Conference
Fall State Conference is an excellent opportunity to voice your opinion and gain perspective on current issues. The topics of debate are announced ahead of time and should be previously debated in your JSA meetings. This way, you will be knowledgable and prepared to debate when you arrive at Fall State. This year, the Fall State conference will be held on November 22-23 at the Marriott at the Capitol in Austin, TX.
Presidential Nominating Convention (2004 only)
At the Presidential Nominating Convention, JSA members meet to discuss the candidates, debate issues and the candidates' stances on them, and finally, nominate both a republican and a democratic candidate. At the end of the day, we vote for who will be the next president. The Presidential Nominating Convention will be held on February 7 at Rice University in Houston, TX. - $5 per person.
Winter Congress
At Winter Congress, we meet to write legislation and enact bills. This year, Winter Congress will be held on February 28-29 in Dallas, TX at the Adams Mark Hotel
Spring State Conference
The Spring State Conference is just like the Fall State Conference, except that the issues are updated. Again, topics will be announced ahead of time and should be debated previous to the conference in JSA meetings. This year, Spring State will be held on April 17-18 in Houston, TX at the J.W. Marriott at the Galleria
There are also many great summer programs. If you are interested in spending a summer at one of the sponsor universities and learning about politics, law, and government, then you should take a look at the official JSA web page for details.
