The Creative Writing Club is sponsored by Ms. Munn and has been since the 2003-2004 school year. The club president is senior Carolyn Hanig (as of 2005-2006) and the vice president is senior Lauren Opper. Meetings take place on Wednesdays during lunch in Ms. Munn's room.
Our meetings tend to be very informal. Though from time to time we do writing exercises, for the most part, we read our writing aloud and give each other feedback. Though sharing is encouraged, no one is ever required to share if they do not want to. All are welcome at any meeting; no previous membership is necessary.
Members are encouraged to participate in contests such as the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, as well as to submit their work to Reflections, the school literary magazine, but this, too, is always optional. The essence of the club is the idea that nothing is required - we try to create an environment in which no one feels pressured to do anything they don't want to do, and no one feels that they are not welcome because they aren't as experienced as some other members. Our goal is to encourage and improve creative writing of any sort, and at any level, for St. Agnes students.
So if you're a writer, this is the place for you! Come to a meeting or ask for more information.
